We are doing a fundraising for Fat Girl and if you would like to help out, we appreciate it very, very much. Kindly scroll to the bottom of this post for donation details.
On 21st March 2024, Fat Girl was rescued by Mdm Lee Kim Hai in Kulai, Johor, when she was alerted by a neighbour that the little kitten was severely injured. Mdm Lee took Fat Girl to their local vet who provided emergency ICU treatment but the vet was unable to perform the needed surgery. Fat Girl was referred to another vet in Johor Bahru. The JB vet performed the hip surgery successfully and corrected GI tract obstruction.
This is the letter written by Mdm Lee’s son to us:
This is the letter of referral from the Kulai vet to the JB vet:
Based on the receipts sent by Mdm Lee’s son, the following are Fat Girl’s bills:
20th March 2024 – RM305 (ICU and emergency at the local vet)
24th March 2024 – RM2058 (surgery at the JB vet)
29th March 2024 – RM224.50 (check-up at the JB vet)
Total (excluding purchase of AD food) = RM2587.50
Since Fat Girl required special care during recovery and Mdm Lee was unable to provide that, she enlisted the help of a paid fosterer who is also a very experienced cat caregiver. Mdm Lee provided the service fee, cat food and all other supplies. Mdm Lee paid for all of Fat Girl’s medical bills, both vaccinations and neutering (we have provided our aid). Now, we are fundraising to help her out with the total medical bill of RM2587.50. Mdm Lee understands that we will not be able to provide in full.
The fosterer agreed to adopt Fat Girl after she completed her vaccinations and is neutered, so as of now, Fat Girl will be adopted by this fosterer. However, having to depend on this fosterer is also not without challenges. The fosterer felt very offended whenever Mdm Lee asked for photos of Fat Girl. So the video taken on 14th June 2024 (below) is the last video Mdm Lee could get from her. The vaccinations and neutering photos were taken by Mdm Lee because she is the one who transported Fat Girl to the vet’s for all these procedures.
We truly sympathise with Mdm Lee as she lives in a community with many challenges. There would be these people who agree to let cats stay in their homes, but will not foot a single sen for anything. Feeling sorry for these cats, Mdm Lee provides cat food, cat litter, other supplies, defleaing, deworming, vaccinations and neutering. So while she herself is currently looking after two cats in her house (despite constraints like neighbours’ complaints and threats, and her own frequent travelling), she is financially providing for many other cats in other houses nearby.
We truly hope we can raise some funds to help out with Fat Girl’s bills as Mdm Lee has many more bills to take care of. We have already extended our Vaccination, Neutering and Medical Aid to all the cats she is looking after, but there are other bills that we cannot help with.
