Updates on Sun Sun (from Lee Kim Hai)

Sun Sun’s case had been very baffling. Three days after being spayed, she had fever and appeared to be weak, Mdm Lee took her to the vet and it was diagnosed as mastitis. Medication was given and the prognosis was good.

But soon after discharge, she bit off her sutures and had to be sent back for re-suturing. Then, after being home, she fell sick again. This time it looked more serious. There was occasional fever, ataxia (walking like a “drunkard”, as described by Mdm Lee), general weakness with a fluctuating appetite and no weight gain from her initial 2.4kg. She also had breathing difficulties.

Sun Sun was admitted again for more tests. Finally, the vet decided to test her blood. She tested negative for FIV/FeLV, FCoV, FIP, and all her organs were functioning well. The vet still could not find out what was wrong with her.

Then, she texted positive for toxoplasmosis.

Sun Sun hospitalised at the vet’s.

But after two days, the vet said it wasn’t toxoplasmosis anymore, but “nerve damage”.

Mdm Lee explained:

After an in-depth examination by two vets, it was confirmed that Sun sun’s problem was nerve damage. Sunsun’s illness is not a serious one. It’s just that her mental system is damaged. She needs some time to rest and recuperate, and she will get better slowly. Doctor said she can discharge tomorrow. Tyvm for your concern & the kind aid for Fat Girl which I can use for Sun Sun now. Doctor said Sun Sun needs antibiotic and get nerve vitamin. And vitamin to increase blood production.

This is today’s update from Mdm Lee:

It has been the third day since Sun Sun returned home from the hospital. Her condition has improved. She looks more energetic and happier. She is now being taken special care by Mdm. Pong’s daughter. I hope she will get better and better.

We hope Sun Sun will keep improving too and regains her health.
