A few months ago, we read Turkey’s new laws to remove stray dogs from their streets: https://time.com/7005319/turkey-stray-dogs-massacre-law/
The Turkish people protested against these new laws, with their opposition calling it a “massacre law”. There were even street demonstrations to protest against it. Compassion to street animals, dogs and cats, have always been in the Turkish culture, so naturally, these new laws were not accepted by their people.
Now, these stray dogs have been given a second chance, with non-governmental organisations taking the lead to rehome them abroad, in the Netherlands: https://www.malaymail.com/news/world/2024/09/05/turkiyes-stray-dogs-get-second-chance-new-law-sends-them-abroad-for-fresh-starts/149399

The work in helping street animals is endless. Change happens, and we can only do our best to help them, as much as we can.
