Mortzy & Family were adopted by Joy Elia Saga on 23rd February 2025. Mortzy, a street cat, had just delivered her babies at that time. They also had a kind sponsor, Mr Koo, who had given RM800 for their needs. The RM800 donation has been fully utilised now for supplies, the first vaccination and deworming, Mortzy’s neutering and a portion of the second vaccination and deworming. Mr Koo has been updated. Now, Mortzy & Family comes under our Subsidised Adoption Plan, a new effort to provide incentives for the adoption of street animals. Details of this plan are published below.

As it stands now, Mortzy has already been neutered. The whole family has completed their second vaccinations and deworming. They are doing very well.

Meanwhile, here are some photos and a video of Mortzy, Simba and Snowflake having dinner!

Since the family has been vaccinated twice, Joy lets them into the house to socialise with her cats, under strict supervision. During the first time, Mortzy smacked one of Joy’s easy-going mama-cat! And the whole family actually preferred to go back to the safety of their very comfortable and familiar cage! Joy still lets them out to socialise with her cats, but they go back to the cage for meals and bedtime. The family is very close-knit and Mortzy is still a very protective mother. The two boys should be three months old now.

Mortzy & Family comes under our Subsidised Adoption Plan. It is only for adopted street animals. Theirs is the first family under this plan as we are trying out if such assistance might encourage more adoption from the street.

AnimalCare’s Subsidised Adoption Plan:

1. This plan is only offered if the adopter declares that they are not receiving any other aid for this adoption and will be using their own money to look after the animal(s).

2. We sponsor the following for up to two years:
Vaccinations (in full, provided administered according to schedule),
Neutering (up to RM250 (cats) or RM300 (dogs), provided not pregnant and ear-notching is compulsory),
Medical (case by case, vet’s report required),
Food (About RM50 per animal per month – please see (5) below).

3. To qualify for the above, the adopter must provide latest photos and health updates of each animal by the 25th of every month.

4. Vaccination/Neutering/Medical aid will be reimbursed after receiving itemised receipts/invoices issued to the adopter’s full name.

5. Food aid will be delivered to the adopter’s residence provided (3) is received. We require a photo of the purchased food when it is received. Other options can also be discussed.

6. The adopter will allow us to visit the animal(s) during the 2-year period.

7. If the adopter rehomes the animal(s), the plan ends.

8. If AnimalCare shuts down before the 2-year period is over, the adopter will be given a lump sum of the food aid (RM50 per animal per month) for the remaining duration of the 2-year plan.
