Alex brought Ginger for her last mange jab today.
Our vet had asked Alex to keep a record of Ginger’s water consumption for a week. This, Alex did. From the daily amounts of water consumed, the vet did some calculations and based on the fact that Ginger consumes double of amount of water of a normal cat’s, the vet suspects Ginger may have either diabetes or kidney problems, the latter being of a higher probability.
The next thing to do now would be to bring a sample of Ginger’s urine to test for sugar (for Diabetes).
If it’s kidney problems, the most feasible option would be diet control, ie. to go for one of those prescription kibbles for kidney patients.
Alex was also advised to control Ginger’s diet so that she can identify which foods is causing Ginger’s recurrent diarrhoea.
