I would like to share with you a new feature we just launched, PetGPT AI Writer on PetFinder.my.
Rescuers just need to write some simple points about the pet, then choose the desired writing tone, style, perspective, language etc and PetGPT will transform it into a literary masterpiece or even poem within seconds.
We’re hoping it makes pet profiles more engaging and increase the adoption response.
PetGPT also condenses each pet profile into “Nibbles”, simple key points that is showcased in each profile, in English, BM and Chinese. So people can easily understand the most important aspects of the pet at a quick glance.
We found that over 80% of rescuers are not adept at describing their pets, most are too brief or general or grammatically problematic, so we launched this feature to help them improve their writings.
It is not cheap though, as we have to pay OpenAI (co-founded by Elon Musk) for every single word generated. We have distributed over RM26,000 free credits to rescuers so far to use this service.
I mused that it is a very helpful tool, good for the rescuers who may lack literary or basic writing skills. But at the same time, it is sad that people, even those who have gone through school, have been reduced to being unable to express themselves in writing in whichever language. Is it going to be a lost skill in time to come? Andy opined that people already started losing writing skills during the advent of SMS.
He’s right. Students were already writing essays using SMS spelling, unaware that there is a difference.
Anyway, it is what it is, isn’t it?

To try the PetGPT AI Writer, please follow the steps below (at our website / mobile app):
– Proceed to Account > Manage Pets section
– Click on Create New Pet (or edit an existing one)
– Ensure that you have specified the correct pet status (adoption), animal type and gender within the profile
– At “About The Pet” section, fill in simple points / description about the pet, then click on PetGPT AI Writer, then choose the desired writing preferences and click “Generate”. That’s all!

Can the teacher in me still have one tiny request here, please. If we use the PetGPT to write our articles, let us still take the opportunity to improve our writing skills by reading the masterpieces that are generated.
