Ms Ong took ET to the vet today and the vet said ET only has some eye discharge and skin problems. The diarrhoea is most likely due to having eaten some unhygienic food on the street.
ET was dewormed, deflead and given an ID diet to address the diarrhoea which the vet didn’t think was serious. ET also ate voraciously while at the vet’s. Her appetite was really good. The vet estimated ET’s age to be 3 months, but she is very small in size.

After that, Ms Ong took ET to her shelter where she had to settle Oyen (the new dog) in. Oyen bit and destroyed the fencing, so repair work had to be done and all the while, according to Ms Ong, ET was in the car with her rescuer-friend with the air-cont on.

But at 3.45pm, Ms Ong texted to say that ET suddenly could not breathe. She had to give ET CPR. I told Ms Ong to quickly send ET back to the vet’s from her shelter and she did.
At 4.13pm, Ms Ong was already back at the vet’s with ET and ET was placed in the oxygen chamber. Ms Ong said she would be there for an hour.
Ms Ong wasn’t exactly sure what the vet said but it could have been a reaction to the dewormer or the maybe the deflea spot-on.
At 4.47pm, Ms Ong texted to say that ET had passed away.
This is all quite shocking and very sudden.
ET was perfectly okay and eating so well this morning, and now, she is gone.
We do not wish to speculate since we don’t have all the information. But allergic reactions to the deworming medicine and the deflea spot-on have been known to happen before, though it is uncommon.
We are always, always reminded not to administer home-fixes and in this case, Ms Ong did not. She took ET to the vet’s and all the medication was administered by the vet. The vet would have done her level best.
So it could have been an unpredictable and totally unforeseen reaction.
We share Ms Ong’s grief and shock in this and hope she will find peace and comfort in knowing that she has done her best, but some things are really beyond our control in life. We can only do our best and leave the rest.
This is a very imperfect world.
Rest in peace, ET. You were loved and cared for, even though it was only for one day.
