Malaysian architects against the felling of trees

The news as reported by TheStar: https://www.thestar.com.my/opinion/letters/2023/07/08/architects-against-felling-of-street-trees

The newspaper article:

We need to protect our trees and greenery. Many animals live on them or/and depend on them for sustenance, shade and shelter.

A few weeks back, our neighbourhood made a complaint about the felling of trees in our city (yes, Subang Jaya sudah ada taraf “bandaraya” now) and we had a meeting with the Landscape Dept of the city council. Much was discussed at the meeting, but the bottom line, we were told, is that they lacked budget to maintain the trees.

So it looks like the suggestion in this article about “fostering engagement from the people” is very much needed, both for street tree asset protection and needless to say, the protection of street animals.

What’s new, right?
