Thursday Updates on Imm’s Shelter

Here’s an email from Judy to me:

I’m glad Su Ming (she’s in her seventies) was able to come and take the photos, despite her other commitments. I really think it’s not just me, the first responders yourself, PC, Yvonne & her son Curtis, made it all happen. The place looks good thanks also to my sis, Yeng (she’s in her sixties!). I had asked her to come in that week to manage the two student workers, she did that and at the same time gave the common area and kennels a good clean up. Yvonne also did a great cleaning job when she was there that Monday. Yeng can’t go to the shelther with us regularly as we have our cats and dogs at home, and she’s also cooking lunch (and packed dinner for Imm) for all three of us. When she was at the shelter that week , she had to prepare our food the night before. Ok temporary measure but not sustaining long term for her health.

Now that Curtis comes in almost regularly, I think he’s back to College next week, I’m using the opportunity to clean out the cages in the cattery. I leave Curtis to clean the dogs’ dishes. With the place now much easier to manage because it’s cleaner and tidier, there’s also time to check out and attend to the sick cats and dogs.

The front area outside the shelter does look much better. We had the student workers (Ganesh and Mohan) cut the grass with changkol and a pair of hedge scissors on Monday. They did do a good job, though not cost effective. We still need a grass cutter to come in and clear the weeds round the remaining sides. No time to look for one yet.  We paid Ganesh and Mohan RM60 for the day’s work, but they handed back RM10 as donation to the shelter.

The tri-colour cat doesn’t look well too.  Imm say s he/she has kidney problems and has been to the vet on several occassions.  I’m still trying to juggle this one.  I can’t take tri-colour in just yet to nurse on top of caring for Kit Kat and my 9 other cats and 3 dogs.  Could you ask in your blog if there’s anyone in Ipoh who would like to foster a sick cat(Tri-colour) or dog (Bobby)?  Looong shot …but who knows?

Ok folks, we need a fosterer from Ipoh to nurse a tri-colour cat and an old dog.  Let’s blast this out and help, shall we?  Please forward this link to your Ipoh contacts and let’s look for fosterers!

Hi Dr Chan. I've already emailed you asking for the address as I believe my hubby and I can help out with the grass cutting and weed clearing as we live in Ipoh and wouldn't mind dropping by weekends to help out.
