Puan BB Aminah Yahaya bt Abdullah is a homemaker in her sixties and her husband is a hawker. They are currently looking after a total of 17 cats; 4 were former street cats adopted into their home many years back and 8 are living in her porch with the freedom to roam, while 5 cats are newcomers. Her 4 indoor cats are all males and have already been previously neutered along with 2 of the outdoor females. She then applied for our Neutering Aid Package (neutering and first vaccination) for the other cats. So her colony has already been fully vaccinated and neutered. She takes her cats for medical treatment when they fall ill and is currently nursing a CKD cat too.
Here’s an update and latest photos of Puan Aminah’s cats:

The newcomers:
I would also like to share the latest ‘happening’ in our home. About 2 months ago a cat started begging for food outside our back gate. We gave her some food and water for her everytime it came. We noticed she also take away any bigger chunk of fish or chicken after eating. My husband suspected she was bringing the food for her kittens. After a while I noticed her stomach began growing and suspected she was pregnant again. About the same time she also brought 2 kittens to eat with her. Gradually the mother cat and her 2 kittens shifted into our porch.
On 20 May she gave birth. My husband saw her coming to the kitchen for food with a dead kitten stuck to her. He pulled the dead kitten’s head out. Later in the afternoon I return and found the mother cat nursing 2 kittens.
Her stomach still looked big and since it was really big even before she gave birth I was worried she might still have some dead babies inside her. I couldn’t believe she only had 3 babies because her stomach was really big that I started calling her ‘belon’ and later Bella.
The next day my daughter sent her to a vet near her office in TTDi for a check up. They did 2 panels of x ray and confirmed there are no more babies inside her. They sent her home with a supplement and we just need to monitor her. Both Bella and her 2 kittens are doing fine. I will send Bella for neutering when she is ready. Her older kittens (2) are not so ‘jinak’ with us, we have not been able to touch them or go near them and don’t know their sex yet. If condition/circumstances permits I plan to neuter them too.
I try my best to not adopt any more cats due to my age factor but just couldn’t turn my back when I see any cats in need of help especially when they show up at our door steps.
Thanks a lot Dr Chan for the financial and food aid that AnimalCare had given to us. We are truly grateful for them. We are trying our best to provide for the cats within our means.
