Discontinuation of Food Aid in January 2027 and going back to basics

As you all know, we stopped fundraising in February 2026 and have since been continuing our work using our reserve funds.

AnimalCare’s primary mission has always been to help with the neutering of street animals. When we first started, that was what we did, but with very active fundraising efforts, our funds grew and we were able to include vaccinations, medical treatment and even food aid. We have always prioritised neutering, vaccination, medical treatment and lastly, food (in that order) and the policy for the Food Aid is that it will only be given out when there are “surplus funds”.

Now, with the discontinuation of fundraising, there are actually no more “surplus funds”. As such, we will stop giving out Food Aid in January 2027.  This is also to enable us to stretch our remaining funds longer for neutering. We have already informed all our Food Aid recipients regarding this decision, so that they have ample time to make other plans and arrangements.

Readers and supporters who follow our work closely would have noticed that for the past few months, we gave out a lot of food aid to individuals and shelters. The reason for this was to use up the “surplus funds” and we have already done that now. In fact, the last remaining Food Aid recipient now is JoTong.

Over the years in the past, we have had financial ups and downs too and there were times we had to discontinue either the Medical Aid, the Vaccination Aid and many times, the Food Aid. But we have always kept our Neutering Aid going since that is our primary and most important mission.

So now, we are scaling down and going back to basics again – come January 2027, our funds will only be given out for neutering and vaccinations.
