Books available in Penang, at Huey & Wah’s Cafe

Huey and Wah recently opened their cafe in Penang and for readers who are interested in getting copies of my books, they are available at the cafe. They also sell “non-meat snacks” (non-meat, except for the use of gelatin and butter, please see below).

Hi Dr Chan.

Here are some loooooonng overdue photos and short write-up for our little cafe, Huey&Wah cafe (ya so lame, so straight forward, hehe). We’re still making adjustments and changes on the place but this will do for now. ๐Ÿ˜›

We specialise in gourmet marshmallows, snacks (such as cookies, muffins) and beverages. We currently have 5 different flavours of marshmallows: vanilla, chocolate, lemon, green tea, and stout. If you have tried any store-bought marshmallows before, you’ll know they taste like rubber (ooops!). Our marshmallows are handmade in our open kitchen, and are soft and fluffy. Most of what we sell are also made fresh in our open kitchen. ๐Ÿ™‚

We’ve set up a small corner, using the idea from our friend at BOK TJUV in KL, as a ‘Drop, Exchange, Share, Take’ corner, in which customers (or public) can bring the books or mags they already don’t want and take those they want back. We’re placing some of your books there. I’m happy to report that there have been kids taking your books back when I told them they can take back and share. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh and in case you (or your readers) need to know, marshmallows are made using gelatin, and the gelatin we use is halal, from a beef source. Other than that, we use butter, eggs, and farm fresh cow milk (directly from a small local Indian owner in Penang) in baking and others.

The cafe is located at Straits Quay, Penang, along the Market Street (within the mall itself). Operating hours is 10:30am-10:30pm. Here’s the FB Page for contact info:ย https://www.facebook.com/hueynwah

Oh and I should also add that most of the decor in the cafe are also for sale, for instance the postcards on the wall, artwork, and wood cat sign. It’s handsawn by local artist. Unfortunately the dog isn’t for sale – because it’s mine! Hehe.

    Thank you @melle!

@connie: look forward to meeting you! I think the nearest would be Tanjung Bungah Hotel. There is also a service apartment named Golden View nearby. ๐Ÿ™‚

@Bernice: Ooo see you soon! Would you like us to keep that for you? It’s the one and only. I think the artist didn’t make more than 10 (or 5!) and we only managed to keep one. He also refuses to make more, haha.
