A very heart-warming tortoise tale

Here’s another heart-warming “tortoisy” tale from Julie Pek:

26th August: Two tortoises were spotted in a pond in a big land paved for development.  I told the construction workers to give me the two tortoises. I took them home not knowing where to locate them. I named them To to and Ti ti. They had been there alone for many years.

One week later, one of it escaped.  I alerted all my neighours.

Days later, they found it (2 houses away) and brought it back to me. I caged it.

However, the other one could not be found though I combed my whole garden.

18th Sept. I shared the story with a kind friend. She offered to take me and Toto to a temple in KL to release it there.

It was a beautiful pond. We released To To there with so much sweet potato plants as well. I did not put a marking on To To. To To was hesitant to go to the pond. I held him and talked and send good wishes to him. He opened his mouth – perhaps to say thank you or please find my other partner.  I said I will find the partner (was not sure at all)

21st Sept. My dog was barking and barking at the garden. I went to have a look.  Behold…it was the other tortoise. How on earth did it re-appear?  I had searched and searched after all. With excitement I called my friend. We were happy and we made plans to release Ti Ti at the temple as well.

25th Sept. We went off to release Ti Ti. This time, I marked red on the shell of Ti Ti. We hope that To To would come out.

We looked for To To. There was no marking earlier and our hope to find him was slim. 5 Minutes later there and behold I found To To. I recognised him as I know the shell was a bit dented. It was a wonderful reunion for To To and Ti Ti!

We released them and they just went off happily to their permanent home and perhaps will continue to live for many many more years. Ti Ti opened its mouth and said Tq too!

Ti Ti

With other tortoise friends…in Paradise!

Partners reunited.

Happily ever after!

How does one choose to take time to be mindful of the animals that come across our path though we have 101 things to do?  The “rat-race” will always be there for all of us, It is a matter of choice for one to do good. The myanimalcare website has taught us to show compassion and care for the living creatures as well. It is universally a good thing to do good and after all it is God’s command and also all religions and society’s call to do good.  Give a thought about it, not only the tortoise or the cats or dogs feel good, we ourselves feel very good after releasing the good to them be it humans or animals.

It is in our nature after all that everyone has the “good in us – that was already in-built” and it is just a matter of releasing it.

I feel good to see To To and Ti Ti rescued, relocated, reunited, and released.
KY, Just keep on with your good work at myanimalcare. Many, many of us are very encouraged!
Special thanks to Muffin’s mama who took time to bring me there to release the two tortoises although Muffin was not well. Muffin (the 10 yrs shitzu with heart problem ) She was barking excitely when saw so many tortoises.

Hv a good day!
Julie
