Eulogy to Bernard

This is a very touching tale from down south, Singapore.

Bernard was a handsome and majestic-looking St Bernard whose owner could not look after him anymore when they moved from a landed property to an HDB flat.  So, Bernard was put in a boarding facility, but after sometime, the owner decided to have him put down to save costs.  Bernard was nine years old and suffering from arthritis, but he was a very loving and loyal dog.

Siew Ying from MettaCats decided to take Bernard in and look after him.  Thus began Bernard’s journey at MettaCats, showered with much love and compassion.

The volunteers at MettaCats did their utmost to ensure Bernard received the best.  From massages, reiki treatments to even ordering a mobility cart for him so that he could move around more comfortably, all the volunteers filled the last lapse of Bernard’s life with unconditional love.  Bernard even became bestfriends with a little cat, Marie, at MettaCats.

Bernard passed on peacefully after a month at MettaCats.  He was cremated with full religious rites befitting any human who has lived a good life.

He definitely deserved it.

Kudos to all the volunteers at MettaCats for showing us the beauty of unconditional love and how we can all make the effort to help neglected animals.

May Bernard be well and happy now, in his new existence.
