So, yes, we can have massive protests, pleas and public outrage, yet those who are in power will not listen.
A friend, in his frustration, suggested in retaliation that humans who look like criminals be sentenced to death as well. “Fair’s fair, right?” he said.
Yes, in retaliation, that would be what we might think of, but let’s face it, this world isn’t fair. It is still barbaric and savage in that the strong will bully the weak. It still operates by the Law of the Jungle, masked in self-claimed civility.
So, one step at a time, folks. Set an example. Speak up, act and do what is right. As Harriet Beecher Stowe said: Concern for animals is a matter of taking the side of the weak against the strong, something the best people have always done.
Slowly but surely, let us outnumber the barbarians.
