AnimalCare turns one year old!

It was exactly one year ago, on 31st May 2009, that AnimalCare had a soft launch at the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association.  I was invited to give a talk on Kindness to Animals, and I took the opportunity to tell the audience that a few friends and I were starting a charity for stray animals since such charities were in great need, especially in the light of the Pulau Ketam tragedy at that time.

One year ago…the talk that started it all.
Initially, I had wanted AnimalCare to be just an educational body, to tell people about TNRM (or “CNRM”, as we call it now), and encourage them to practise it.  But I was advised to start a fund to provide financial support for those who would be interested to practise it.  I also knew that many caregivers do a marvellous job in rescuing and taking care of stray animals but they lack the financial assistance to pay for spaying-neutering and medical treatment.
We started very, very small, and being one who had never raised funds before, I thought I would be very happy if we could raise enough funds to help 10 animals in our first year.
We never expected to end up helping….well, more than 10 animals…
Thanks to your support, in our first year,
we have helped a total of 660 animals.
Here is the breakdown of cases:

We were only able to do so much because of your support, so we thank you very, very much, and hope you will continue supporting us in helping more animals.

Since February 2010, we have decided to concentrate on spay-neuter and subsidising medical treatment, and let the established organisations do the adoptions.  We will still help in publicising animals for adoption through this blog.  As for rescues, we do not have the means to house rescued animals now because the farms and sanctuaries that we know of are already full.

So, let us each do what we can do within our means.

Let’s work together for the animals.

Thank you very much for your support!

Now, onwards to our second year…there is work to be done.  Three cats for spay-neuter tomorrow, acupuncture for NiceNice, another five cats for spay-neuter next week…

We will go on as long as we can.

Well done on a simple idea (yet no one else thought of it!) that has grown into a lifeline that has enabled animal rescuers to help more animals, myself included. You have created a wonderful bridge/ resource centre for the betterment of stray animals which are really, the worst of all animals because they have few advocates.
    May you always be blessed.

I will forever give my full support to you and the organization. I have spayed 5 of my cats, out of 8. Will continue doing so with the rest. You have no idea how you've have changed my view on this matter, and how i've changed the view of other people. lets keep this healthy cycle of care and manage going for the animals and humanity. Much love 🙂
