To all those who are praying for Clariss’ recovery, here’s the latest from Mas:
A second misfortune has hit dear Clariss – right after the procedure to rectify her broken jaw, her blood plunged indicating that she has suddenly been hit by a blood parasite. The vet had administered antibiotics for it yesterday and said that if after 48 hours, her blood condition improves, then it is a very good indication that she will be on the road to recovery.
I had visited her just now and saw that just as the vet had warned me, she was very, very feeble. She was lying on her chest with her head on the cubicle floor. I opened her cubicle door and sat in front of her and she did not move.
I rubbed my hands together to warm them before putting them on her shoulders gently to stroke her, softly calling her name. She took a while to register my presence and then started purring without lifting her head or opening her eyes, showing how weak she was.
She continued to purr and after a while, her shut eyes opened a little and she emitted a tiny “meow” and continued purring.
I continued to stroke her shoulders gently, while talking to her softly, avoiding her injured areas, namely the head and jaw, in order to encourage her to purr as much as possible.
The reason for this is because I have read that when the cat purrs, the sound produced is of a certain frequency which induces healing. Researchers attribute the cat’s incredible ability to heal to its purr. That is why a cat purrs when it is sick or in pain.
Now I know why when I am sick or feeling down, 3 of my favorite cats will vie to wrap themselves around my throbing head or sit on my chest purring away like an old car engine the moment I lie down on my couch.
I sat whispering gently to Clariss for a good 20 minutes before the clinic closed for lunch. She purred non-stop, made a few soft meows ocassionally, presumeably to tell me how things suck and that she wants to go home, and even made several weak attempts to rise to her 4 little feet in response. I also prayed for her recovery, told her not to give up and that she is a much loved and precious little girl.
Let’s collectively pray for Clariss’ recovery from this ordeal. She has hung on for many days now, and she is a very strong girl. Let’s help her by sending her positive healing energy so that she will see through this storm.
