Medical subsidy for Ms Jackie (Rozita Mohd Rudin’s)

We have subsidised RM25 for the first bill for the treatment of Ms Jackie, brought in with an eye injury by Rozita. We will continue to subsidise for whatever treatment or surgery that is necessary for her.

Hi Kah Yein

I just read your policies about how to apply for the subsidise and
I wish to apply the subsidy for medical treatment for this poor kitten, Ms Jackie.

On 29 July, I have rescued a stray kitten at my office area at Pusat
Bandar Damansara who has swollen eye and sent her right away to the vet
for treatment.  I have named her as Ms Jackie because it is too sad during registering,
I wrote there as ‘stray’, hence Ms Jackie came up to my mind since she has only one eye
in good condition at the moment. The vet mentioned that not
too sure whether is it due to her eyeball or it is just due to her
eyelid problem.  She has been given a jap to reduce the swelling and
3 types of tablets for anti-biotic and to reduce swelling for a week
till her next appointment on 5 August.  In the meantime, my friend and
I agreed to foster her for medical attention till we can get the
adopter for her.

We sent her again to the clinic on the 5th August and since the swelling did
not subside, the vet said need to hospitalise her.  Reasons : for
observation and to give her 3 jape, once a day.  Today is the 3rd day
and the vet updated me saying that the swelling still not subside so
at the moment they cannot perform any surgery for the matter.  Dr
told me that Ms Jackie need further observation and hopefully
within these few days, they would be able to decide what they can do
to help this poor kitten.
Am not sure yet what is the final figure for the whole treatment.  At
the moment, I have paid the first visit for RM50, the second visit, as
a deposit for her to be hospitalised and jap, I have paid another
RM50.  If operations need to be done, it would cost another
RM150-RM250 which I hope this would not be necessary because I pray
hard that we can save her eyes.  If you agree to assist by subsidising
50% of the treatment, it would be great.  I would be glad to provide
you the receipt. I did not apply any subsidise from any other source
of funds for this purposes. Look forward for your favourable

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Humbly, rozie

    Rozita,

I have treated many stray kittens like this using Azithromycin (Zithromax) and their eyes heal completely compared to other antibiotics for eye infections like this. Because Clamydia is very common and resistant to many antibiotics.

Get a box of Zithromax from human pharmacy. Each tablet is 250mg. Dosage is 20mg per 1kg body weight for cat/kitten 1 time per day for 10-14 days. The first week medication is very important, do not miss a single day.

Use a medicine tablet cutter to cut each tablet as accurately as you can. Half a tablet is 125mg. 1/4 tablet is 62.5mg. You must weigh the cat/kitten.

Pat the kitten to calm it down, talk to it. Then, gently open its mouth and pop the cut tablet into deep the mouth followed by 1 ml of water using a small 1 ml syringe. Keep the mouth closed and stroke the throat gently for a while so that it swallows the tablet completely. Reward afterwards with a nice piece of chicken or fish meat.

    Dosage:
    1) 20 mg. (0.4mls.) – 1kg. of body weight
    2) 10 mg. (0.2mls.) – ½ kg. of body weight
    3) 5 mg. (0.1mls.) – ¼ kg. of body weight

Dilution to get 5mg. per 0.1 mls. :
    1) ¼ tablet is 62.5mg
    2) Dilute with 1.25 mls. water
