Hello – martha here, I emailed you prior about how much I love your blog. I am very sad to hear of Jelly’s passing. I’ve had many “bottle babies” in our cat rescue here in florida and know how sad it can be when they go down like that. When our babies get diarreah we feed them pedialite I dont know if this is the same as your “oral rehydration salts” but it works very well and is very delicate for their tummies as it’s made for babies. It is found in the pharmacy in the baby section. It is best to get unflavored version as it contains less flavorings and sugar. We get that and mix it with AD and feed it to thebabies. Once on that for a bit we them add cooked rice – best if you overcook till a bit mushy… mash it all together and it works well. Also, when the kittens get lethargic it helps to get Karo-syrup (corn syrup) and rub it vigirously on their gums and roof of the mouth. This sort of jump starts their tummies and keeps them from dying too quickly. Do youhave any calorie supplement gel? This is also great – it’s from the vet and made of yeast I believe it’s GREAT to get in some calories when the kitten has terrible diorreah.
