Bobtail is in a very critical condition

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I write this posting, and post these photographs.

I refer to this morning’s posting about Bobtail’s S.O.S : http://animalcare.my/2010/02/sos-for-bobtail.html

I requested that the fosterer bring Bobtail immediately to Gasing Hospital.  One of our volunteers attended to him and I was told that everything was under control.

I only managed to visit Bobtail at about 3.30pm today, after attending to the Selayang puppies.

What I saw broke my heart completely.  I had not expected Bobtail’s condition to be so critical.

Bobtail was skin and bones.  I have never seen a kitten this severely emaciated before.

I told the vet, “No, this is not Bobtail, he’s much bigger than this, and he cannot be so thin.”  But it was Bobtail.  I have no words to describe the shock in my heart.
Bobtail is now even smaller than Bandit, and Bandit was the smallest and weakest of the lot.
I fed Bobtail AD.  He ate it all up.  At least he is still eating.  Holding him brought tears to my eyes.  I could feel this ribcage.
This is how emaciated he is.
Feeding him water.
His neck is very thin.  The vet says he is emaciated and very dehydrated.  There is only skin and bones on him now.
Earlier on, the vet could not even put the drips on him because he could not find a vein.  But later in the evening, we tried again on the other hand, and we finally managed to insert the catheter, after three tries.
I stayed with Bobtail until 7.40pm, just before closing time. and told him he must hang on and he must eat and be strong again.  I managed to feed him again, at 6.30pm.  He finished a small amount of AD.
But what is worrying is his white blood count.  The upper limit is 11.  Bobtail’s is 59.1.  There must be a severe infection in his body.  And he has extremely watery diarrhoea – it is pink liquid.
The vet is already treating him for all possible symptoms now.  He will be fed Nutrigel around the clock tonight.  I had initially wanted to take Bobtail home to nurse him, but with the drips now, I can’t anymore.
The vet has strongly advised that Teddybear be brought for a check-up as well.  We will take Teddybear from the fosterer tomorrow.
I came home today, still feeling shocked and extremely sad.  I looked at Xiao Li and Bandit, and I remember the time when Bobtail and Teddybear were with me.  I was also fostering Princess (Wolfie) and Simba, and could not handle all six kittens at that time, so Bobtail and Teddybear were sent to the fosterer.
Please pray that Bobtail will make it through the night.
All my thoughts and prayers are with Bobtail now.  My heart is very, very heavy.
Please hang on, Bobtail, and please get well soon.

It is shocking enough that some local authorities are starving dogs healthy at the point of capture until they are emaciated all skin and bones but … to think that a fosterer actually starved (otherwise how could it be, because when KY, you put A/D to Bobtail, he immediately ate! So it could not have been that they were not eating if given food!) Bobtail and Teddybear till skin and bones!

Hey, this is definitely not ignorance, KY, this is ABSOLUTE, WILLFUL CRUELTY!

Huh, KY, if the vet had not strongly asked for Teddybear to be brought in for a check-up after the shock of seeing Bobtail's condition, the poor little boboy might still be at the fosterer's place under the impression that he is alright but actually languishing away (or lying stone dead and cold unnoticed!).

  6. Actually I asked for Teddybear to be brought back. The vet concurred.
