The mountain.
The trek.
The challenge.
The children.
Come 28th Dec 2012, four youths, (from left) Hillary Kon, Mabel Soo, Marco Soo and Brian Goh will take up the challenge of scaling the highest peak in Crocker Range of Borneo, Mount Kinabalu, 4095m (13,435ft), for a noble cause – to raise funds for the animals who come through AnimalCare.
Mt Kinabalu has been accorded UNESCO World Heritage status and is protected under the Mt Kinabalu National Park in Sabah State.
They will be accompanied by their parents and family friends. They have been preparing and training for this arduous journey for months at Gasing Hills and soon at Bukit Kledang in Menglembu, Ipoh and they are all mentally and physically ready for the fun, the challenge and the deed.
Details of the climb:
Climb starts on 28 Dec morning and will reach Laban Rata in the evening,. Take a short rest (6 to 8 hours) and then start to climb for the second leg from 2am on 29 Dec to the peak (Low’s Peak which is the name of the British surveyor I think) and we will descend to the Mt Kinabalu park on the same day of 29 Dec after reaching the peak brtween 6 to 9am of 29 Dec.
It is the children’s hope they may raise a significant amount of funds for the animals through their effort.
We hope our readers will support their noble intentions and contribute generously towards this cause. All your donations will go to the AnimalCare Fund for our ongoing efforts in helping the animals.
Please follow-up with an email to chankahyein@gmail.com after banking in your kind donation.
To Hillary, Mabel, Marco and Brian, we thank you so much for your very kind intentions and all your efforts!
Thank you all.
To start the ball rolling, my clan, Cow and Friends, is donating RM400 in loving memory of Bobby!

go go go …. reach the top & come back with the ‘coloured” cert, I pledge RM 500 for each participant
Thank you so much for the generous pledge!! We won’t let you down. We will try our best to reach the top! Thank you!!!
Woweee! When we, the elders, crap about how the youth today … blah blah … remember these young people 😀 and we’ll shut up. Please have a safe climb up and even safer descend. Remember it’s the going down that’s more difficult and dangerous! So stay safe and know when to stop to rest. (sounding like an old woman)
Thank you very much for the words of encouragement and advice. We will do our best!!!
You are the “A4 (Awesome 4)”. I am here to give the four of you encouragement and motivation for a successful climb and safe descend. Mission accomplished!!!
Thank you for the encouragement and motivation! 🙂 We will always be mindful throughout the climb!
