Sweetie returns to us

Meiling (who adopted Sweetie and Perky from us) called today requesting that we take back Sweetie.  Meiling says she can’t handle two dogs.  It is just too much work.  Also, Sweetie has not been eating well.  Meiling also said she saw two dead “tiny white worms” drop off from Sweetie.  We suspect it could be maggots from the wound in her paw.

So, after work today, Ainey and I drove over to Puchong to take Sweetie back.  Sweetie is currently boarding at the clinic where she would be treated for the wound on her paw, as well as her tick fever and TVT.

It is strange how Sweetie was perfectly alright while with us for a month, and was even given a clean bill of health before she was adopted.  Dr Edmund’s guess is that the chemo jab must have brought down her immunity.  Also, as with human chemo jabs, Sweetie seems to have lost her appetite now.  Dr Edmund examined Sweetie but found no maggot wounds on her, even on the wound on her paw.  So it remains a mystery where those two “tiny white worms” had come from.

Dr Edmund doing blood smears under his microscope while Sweetie looks on, as though saying, “Oh, oh….what else do I have now?”
Since Sweetie has lost her appetite due to the chemo jabs, Dr Edmund will force feed her AD.  We will board her for a few days while we look for a fosterer for her.  We just need to take her for three more weekly chemo jabs.  Even today, Dr Edmund examined her vulva and found that the TVT lesion is already shrinking.  It is in a very early stage and can be quite easily treated.
Meanwhile, Meiling just text me to say Perky has tick fever now.  Sigh…double trouble?  It is so strange that these two were perfectly alright while with us.  We have kept them this long before putting them up for adoption.  Perky was with Ainey for a few days, and nothing surfaced.
Hmm….life is sometimes quite mysterious.
