Medical sponsorship for Wira, cat diagnosed with FeLV (Maslinda Abd Talib’s)

Wira is one of Maslinda’s community cats. He was diagnosed FeLV positive today, and we have fully sponsored his medical treatment of RM184.50 where 50% is from AnimalCare’s Medical Fund and 50% from an anonymous donor.

We pray for Wira’s speedy recovery and has advised Maslinda to get RetroMAD1 for Wira.

Wira had always been down with fever until he got his first vaccination on 27 june 2011. then he had no health problem except 4 him being obese and need to undergo diet regime.

after getting his annual vaccination on october (the one u helped to set the apmt), he’s having few rounds of fever which easily rectified with antibiotics and TF. his last visit to vet prior to this was on 1st november 2012. he still eating but has a reduced appetite

he then disappear from my house on tuesday night (an escape artist) but still seen (from our street CCTV) and he’s mostly at my neighbour’s compund and eats at normal time coz i left food for him. but he ran every time my neighbour and i approach him. he eats the kibbles we left for him (yes, caught eating on CCTV and he doesnt like wet food, only kibbles). this morning he came back but not eating as usual. he also has nose discharge. i’m not too strict on him this time coz he now stays at a spot and dont go too far. my neighbour also helps me to monitor him.

I ran FIV/FELV test for him today and unfortunately, he’s FELV positive. from the check up, he might also have kidney problem and subcut fluid was done today. will repeat the subcut and follow up on saturday. if subcut needed, will do it on my own at home. he also has an ulcer in the mouth which explains why he’s not eating today

since he’s felv positive, i quarantined him in a room ( away from the other cats). i have a back up fosterer for him who is available to take care for him when the needs arise, currently not. i’ll also put him on vetri and TF.
