Good news, folks! Rejoice!!
Bebe has been found!!
Here’s the email from her owner, Li Yin:
You know what? This morning I went out putting up posters and handing out flyers at the neighbourhood area surrounding the hospital. This evening the vet called me and broke a good news that they found Bebe!! It was a miracle after putting us all through all this. I do not know how they found her but they’ll tell me tomorrow morning when I go visit her. I am gonna get a cat carrier. The hospital is quite a distance from my house and I cannot take the risk anymore. I am glad she’s found! I hope to see Bebe get better soon.

I wrote to Yi Lin last night and suggested that she goes back to the spot where Bebe had gone missing when it is all quiet and call her gently.
This incident reminds me of the time Cleo got lost just barely two months ago. The same thing happened. Cleo escaped from outside the vet’s clinic. I couldn’t get her into a carrier, so I took the (absolutely foolish) risk and took her in my arms (she was so strong, I failed TWICE to get her into the carrier).
As I was walking to the clinic, she saw a group of people, got scared, kicked off and ran away. I spent two hours going on foot searching the entire neighbourhood for her but to no avail.
When we went back at night, my husband sat near the place where Cleo had run off from, he called, waited and voila! – she answered. It turned out that she was just hiding in one of the many boxes stacked up, barely 10m away from the spot she had run away from. But was too scared to come out until after a few hours.
Cats run off when they are scared, but they normally don’t go very far UNLESS their intention is to run away from home for good – then, you will probably never find them again.
But if they are just running off due to a sudden fear, they will probably run a short distance just to hide, and when things calm down, they might come out again.
We brought Cleo home, and I vowed I’d never bring her anywhere again unless it was a matter of life and death! Else, use a carrier, in spite of her protests!!
