Teresa brought Kit Kat to our panel vet for treatment today. Kit Kat was one of the first OKR cats spayed by us about three months ago. She was returned to the colony and is being managed by her feeder. Apparently, she got bitten by a dog four days ago.
Here are some photos to tell the story:
Isn’t she so sweet? Well, she looks a bit shocked here, but really, even the vet was amazed at how well-behaved she was. And we’re talking about a feral cat here. Not somebody’s pet.
Shaving to take a look at the wound on the back. She felt pain when this part of the spinal chord was pressed.
Here’s the wound. It is worse than it looks, actually. There was a “pouch” and it had to be thoroughly cleaned.
Some more wounds on the belly.
Nasty wound on the hind leg. Had to shave off the hair around it. Kit Kat was extremely cooperative. Such a sweet, sweet cat. She never made a sound throughout the entire procedure, up to this point.
Oh, at this point, my camera lens got jammed (sob….), so the next few photos are taken with my hp (very poor quality, sorry!).
The shaven leg, being washed.
Here it is, all clean and dressed.
The entire treatment took no less than one-and-a-half hours. And Kit Kat only complained towards the end. Where did this wonderfully patient cat come from? Kitty-Heaven?
Not once did she snarl or growl. She did not try to fight off the vet or attempt to bite any of us at all. She did not scratch at all. At one point, she merely clung on tightly to the side of the table.
She’s from Kitty-Heaven, sent here to teach us that we should also be this patient and tolerant!
Our sweet little Kit Kat!
Kit Kat goes home with some medications for about 5 days. Teresa will monitor her progress and bring her back if need be. Our vet thinks she should heal very well. And why not, with such good temperament, who wouldn’t?
Get well soon, Kit Kat!
