It is past midnight now, and I’ve just had my dinner half an hour ago, after returning from another kitten SOS.
Remember the Three Musketeers?
Flashback: Mum-musketeer got accidentally run over by the caregiver himself (He-who-cannot-be-named). Caregiver brought the three kittens to my friend, Cathy, and we helped foster for two days, and subsequently, caregiver paid a fosterer to look after the musketeer-kittens.
This evening, Cathy brought the kittens back because they are already on solid food now (almost one month old) and he-who-cannot-be-named has decided to foster them himself.
So I went to visit the kittens:
Athos and Porthos
Aramis
(Sorry, taken with my hp, so not clear)
Aramis and Athos were active.
The kittens looked fine until Porthos (the female ginger) suddenly defecated and the stools were totally watery. And then, she looked very inactive.
Porthos looked sick.
I got worried because I know diarrhoea can kill a young kitten very quickly, and suggested to he-who-cannot-be-named (hereby called hwcbn) that we send Porthos for a check-up at the pet hospital in PJ immediately and not risk waiting till tomorrow morning.
So, off we went at 9.30pm, and I hadn’t even had dinner yet. But never mind, a life is at stake here.
We had to wait half an hour before the vet came in because it was an recall case.
Little Porthos, while waiting for the vet.
We brought the other two along. That’s hwcbn sitting next to the carrier – that’s as much as you can see of hwcbn. He’s taking their photo too.
Finally, the vet arrived and she examined all three of them.
Porthos has roundworms (and we even got to look through the microscope to see the eggs which appeared as round black spots).
The fosterer had not dewormed the kitten at all, so we got them all dewormed. Porthos will be put on medications for the diarrhoea.
Hwcbn will look after the three kittens for now. He will monitor Porthos closely.
