Wishing Rahnee a safe surgery now

Terry, Rani and I were there to see Rahnee off for her surgery this morning.

I’ve been thinking about it all night, and wondering if the three of us had made the right decision in choosing this option for Rahnee (Rani actually asked me to decide, so Terry and I made the decision, based on the advice of the vet).  The success rate of the other three options are very low, we have been told, and the vet feels amputation is the best and safest option for Rahnee’s wellbeing, especially after surgery.

This morning, I decided to speak to the vet again – a last dish effort to see if we can still save Rahnee’s limb.

The vet assured me this IS the best option.

When I asked if Rahnee would need time to learn to use three legs, the vet said, “She is already only using three legs.  She’ll be able to cope very well.  In fact, she is already coping now.”

That injured limb is really quite useless now, and we noticed it’s more of a hindrance, actually.  And there’s always the possibility of infection setting in later.

So the three of us put on our bravest front this morning, and wished Rahnee well.  No one likes to lose a limb, I know.  But sometimes we have no choice.

The vet says it is a simple surgery, and Rani would be able to take Rahnee home this evening, at 7.30pm.

Be brave, Rahnee.  Speedy recovery!
The surgery is scheduled at 2pm, which is round about now.
Please pray for Rahnee that all will go well, and she will be up and about in no time.  Three legs is still good!
The surgery is expect to cost about RM415, barring unexpected complications.  AnimalCare will sponsor the entire cost.
Thank you to all donors and well-wishers.
