Dear everyone, I received this from volunteer Teresa Chian at 5am this morning:
Attached are pics of the female dog with tumor. Only today, it started to bleed. You can see that there is a hole eating into the tumor. According to Mr Siva, he only spotted the tumor 3 days ago and it has now grown into this size. I am so disturbed by it I had to stop breathing while taking the pic.
This looks like a case of TVT (Transmittable Venereal Tumour), a tumour that grows on the private parts of female dogs.
Mr Siva is appealing for AnimalCare’s sponsorship to treat this dog. Can we help?
Yes, we can. I have spoken to several vets and we have two options:
1. Surgery, but if the tumour has already spread to other parts (it’s “transmittable”), it might recur after that.
2. Chemotherapy (success rate is very high for TVTs). This option is preferred by several vets.
We will offer both options to Mr Siva and see which he decides. Both has its pros and cons.
If you’d like to chip into this S.O.S fund to help sponsor the treatment, please contact me.
I know we just started the Chow Chow fund, but this just came up and we have to help this dog as well.
