News, news, and more news…

Good morning everyone.

Here’s some news of what’s been happening and will be happening:

1.  Teresa brought Jenn and Cass (the two little girls) over to Terry’s place to help look for Nana, the runaway mother-cat.  It seems they spent hours looking for her, but Nana could not be found anywhere.  We hope Nana is safe, wherever she is.  She ought to be since she is street-wise.

2.  Our cat-angel, Vics, who is now also a puppy-angel, rescued a little puppy and we brought her over for a check-up at our panel vet.  Photos and report later, from our volunteer, Li Lian, over at Sri Petaling.

3.  Li Lian has been helping Christie Lim rehome an entire family of puppies and the mother.  I’m still awaiting photos and the report.  It seems all the puppies have been rehomed, but the mother is still available.

4.  On 1st November, we have been invited to the Sunway Lagoon Club Flea Market.  We’ll have kittens up for adoption.  More details later.

5.  Our next batch of tshirts is in the process of being printed now.  We are very glad to have received encouraging feedback and repeat orders from those who have bought our tshirts.  If the tshirts can be ready by 1st Nov, we will be selling these tshirts in Sunway Lagoon as well.  Those who have placed orders at Kathina will get their tshirts too.

6.  Daniel Azlan is keen to adopt Dante, the OKR rescued dog.  A meeting has been arranged this afternoon for viewing.  Daniel will bring Gigi to help him decide.  After all, any new dog in the home will be Gigi’s new friend, so Gigi has all the right to jointly make the decision!  Daniel just lost Yorky hardly a week ago, and he text to ask me if it’s time yet to bring home another pet.  There is no “right time” to shower love on animals.  ANYTIME is a right time.  There is also no “mourning period” to observe where you are not supposed to love another pet.  Anytime is the right time to love.  I’m sure Yorky would want Daniel and Gigi to be happy again and not to be lonely.  As it is now, Gigi is very lonely and keeps looking for Yorky.  A new pet might ease this loneliness and distract Gigi from feeling sad.  (Yes, I humanise animals…)

7.  Teresa’s younger brother has found a puppy who could be Dante’s brother!  This black puppy was found under Teresa’s cat, and Teresa’s brother managed to lure the puppy out with some food.  Terry has named the puppy “Sokuso”, because he appears to be wearing socks on all four paws.  Sokuso is up for adoption too.  Photos later.  Any hope of Daniel taking Sokuso as well?

8.  We are making a trip up to Bentong’s LLLF to visit the Ketam dogs this Saturday.  We will be sending food up for the dogs.  Coming on this trip would be a team from Kechara House. They are interested to look into LLLF because Kechara House has plans to set up an animal sanctuary.

9.  SPCA has invited me to go up to Bentong again on 25th October.  They are running a Klinik Kembiri (spay-neuter clinic) for the farm’s existing dogs.  I am not able to go because I’m already booked for a talk on that day, but I hope they have enough volunteers.  If you are keen to help, you may contact them.  SPCA will also be sending their “unrehomable” shelter dogs to LLLF.  I’m glad they are now rehoming their dogs instead of resorting to euthanasia.  When there’s a will, there’s a way.  Sometimes we need to pave the way for others to follow.  But please do not use LLLF as a dumping ground.  I know I’m being very blunt here, but a few people have asked me if they could send their dogs to LLLF.  I do not own LLLF so I cannot make any decision for them.  People who are interested would have to contact them directly just as I had.  We provide maintenance for the dogs whom we have rehomed over there and we visit them monthly.  It is not a case of “out of sight, out of mind”.  There has also been a case previously where I was asked by a rescuer to arrange for a meeting between her and LLLF, but the rescuer never turned up for the meeting.  This is most disappointing.

Phew….I hope I’ve covered all the news so far…

Have a nice day, and please spare a kind and loving thought of the animals.

May all beings be well and happy!
