Tinsel is recovering from his “angry gut”. Every day, I have been asking Terry for updates, and I’m glad to hear Tinsel is still as active as ever. His stools are also well-formed now.
Here’s a write-up from Terry, and some lovely photos.
The good news is, he is now passing solids with noticeably less mucus and blood. Though all is well, he is still not completely out of the danger zone and there are times I’m concerned that the diet he’s on may not be enough for his growth. Still, his spirit and lifeforce is strong and as long as he eats his untainted food, all is well.
My female dog, Catarinha has taken a liking to little Tinsel. Despite never being a mother (nor will she ever be – she’s spayed) her motherly instincts ooze out of her and she will even growl at my foster dog, Cirque if he so much as gets close to Tinsel.
Yesterday, Tinsel managed to free himself from his confinement and wandered out of my front door, into the gaping mouth of death (Cirque). I heard a low growl (from Cata) and when I looked I saw her crouched nearby, little Tinsel nearby with Cirque’s jaws over her tiny frame. With a shout, Cirque ran off (knowing he will be severely reprimanded) and Cata stood protective over her tiny charge.
If it wasn’t for Cata’s presence I believe that Cirque would have tossed Tinsel around like a rag doll. As testament to her motherly care, Cata followed Tinsel indoors. I allowed her to do so (she usually doesn’t have access to the house). What followed can only be described in the pictures that I’m sending.
Nonetheless, Cata whines when she hears Tinsel meowing in protest, and even as I type this, she’s pacing around waiting for me to let her in. Who says cats and dogs can’t get along?
