Meet Devi, cat rescuer

This morning, we went down to Brickfields to help Devi. Devi, a cat rescuer and sympathiser, is presently feeding and keeping 22 cats in her small little shoplot apartment. These cats were all rescued from the street in her neighbourhood. She doesn’t have the heart to return them because she fears they may be abused or get run over by vehicles, so she keeps as many as possible in her apartment. She has even converted an airwell into a cat dwelling place which is fenced with wire netting.
We took Sholay and Robbin (both males, photos above) for neutering today, fully sponsored by AnimalCare. Tomorrow, we will be taking a few more of Devi’s cats for spaying/neutering at our panel vet.
Devi explained the problem in her neighbourhood. Many cat-owners do not spay/neuter their cats and she even noticed one who has already given birth as many as seven times. Often, she sees owners abandoning their cats in dustbins, and she would pick them up and bring them home.
She spends almost her entire salary on buying cat kibbles and looking after these cats. Sometimes she even feeds her neighbours’ cats who have been neglected.
AnimalCare will support Devi with the spaying/neutering of her cats.
Devi also has four baby kittens for adoption (please see photo above). If you’d like to adopt the kittens, please contact me.
