Medical subsidy for 8 dogs (Jaclyn Lim Chooi Li’s)

The bill for Lucy’s treatment is RM40 and we have subsidised RM20.

The bill for the two rounds of scabies injection for the 7 puppies is RM140 and we have subsidised RM70.

This total subsidy of RM90 comes from the AnimalCare Donors (RM30) and Berjaya Cares (RM60).

Hi Dr Chan

I am not sure if you remember but I had emailed to you before my frustrations in feeding the stray dogs at my workplace.

Anyway, I still persevere to feed them after work at 5.30pm even though I do received lots of bad remarks and glares from the working people around this area.

Even yesterday, an Indian man even threatened to call the council to shoot all of them if he still sees them here. He said ‘ busuk, banyak kutu, nanti saya suruh council tembak mereka semua.

If not because of the words you wrote in your blog about not to fight back or make enemies cos at the end of the day, the dogs will be the victims. Thus, I just held back my temper and continue to feed them.

Anyway, the reason why I am writing this email to you is because I met up with SPCA on Monday with the intention of neutering all 8 of them but unfortunately, they said the dogs cannot be neutered yet cos they have mange. They suggested for me to get a vet to come over and give them injection.

Once their skin is better within  2 to 3 months time, only will SPCA will come again to neuter them.

I am writing to you is to ask if I am eligible to apply for medical subsidy for the injection. The vet said she will charge me RM10 per dog and RM30 for house call. Thus, estimately, the costs will be around RM80 + RM30 = RM110.

Pls advise.

Thank you and regards,
Jaclyn

Hi Dr Chan,

I am going to submit 3 receipts tomorrow.

2 receipts are for the 2 treatment of mange of the 7 street dogs I had been feeding (RM70 per receipt for injection x 2 times = RM140). The vet said there will be one more jab left which will be carried out this Saturday.

The other receipt (RM40) is for a female puppy I rescued from being attacked by the street dogs on 6/11/13. I named her Lucy and she is not neutered yet but I will do so once she is well. This receipt for treatment of eye infection.

Lucy had not been eating for 3 days now and even though she took some bite of wet food yesterday, she threw up. Her poop was pure tar black, smelly and she has been just lying on the floor. I spoke to the vet and she worries it may be parvo. After work later, I will take her to the vet to check. I hope it is not parvo but just trauma after the attack plus a new environment. I will keep you posted.

Thank you.

Rgds

Lucy has jaundice.  Dr Tan had taken blood for testing to see if the virus had attack the liver or not.

But overall her appetite came back and had eaten all the whole chicken leg I had steamed for her.

No more vomiting nor purging.
