Cruelty at its worst (updates at 11.51pm)

The latest updates I’ve received is that all the cats have found fosterers now. Many owners have also claimed their cats. 


Thank you to everyone who volunteered as fosterers and others who helped spread the news so that the owners can be alerted.


There was also a dog at the boarding house and the dog was sent to the PJ vet this evening. 


There is also news that the authorities may have uncovered another 80+ cats in the culprits’ other house.  We hope the authorities will do the needful as the rescuers do not know the location of this other place.  Time is of the essence. If these pets have been left for at least 7 days without water, their kidneys may be in bad shape. They need to be rescued.  


One wonders just how many cats (and dogs) this boarding place has taken in during this festive period. I think the number has easily surpassed 300 by now.   


GREED is a terrible evil that drives humans to do terrible things.  


As I sit here right now, waiting for more news (if any), I think I do not even want to begin to imagine what these cats have gone through for the last 7-9 days or more, to have been pets (which means well-loved and cared for) in a safe and loving home, to be sent for boarding to a supposedly well-established boarding house, and to be subjected to such cruetly – kept in carriers throughout without food and water, soaked in their own pee and poo. 


One owner I met said the only fitting punishment for these culprits would be to put them in a cage without food and water and toilet facilities for the same duration. 


But no, as much as we would like to see justice served, the maximum punishment would probably be the RM200 fine.  


With such leniency, which smacks of a disrespect for animal rights, how can the authorities hope to deter criminals who probably only respond to punishment?
