Cleo the poodle needs our prayers (urgent)

While we were packing up at the Dog Walkathon today, one of our volunteers, Jessie Yee, received an emergency call from her sister, Cassandra. Cassandra’s poodle, Cleo, had been admitted in the pet hospital and needed a blood transfusion urgently.

I texted friends for help as I had no internet facilities. Finally, our panel vet offered their resident blood donor. Plans were made immediately to get blood from McCoy, the resident blood donor.

But soon after, two friends of Cassandra’s brought in their dog who provided a perfect match, so McCoy’s blood was no longer needed.

Cleo has been given the blood transfusion now but is still in a very critical state. I have asked Cassandra’s permission to blog about Cleo so that we can all collectively pray for Cleo’s recovery.

Cassandra writes:

Dear Dr. Chan,

I am Jessie’s sister & I would like to thank you for helping to arrange McCoy from Healing Room to donate blood to my old girl, Cleo (12-year old poodle). I was like mad woman calling everybody I know & posting S.O.S on facebook. Quite a number of people responded and for that, I am truly touched & extremely grateful.

Two of my friends, Yen & Marilyn quickly brought their dog, Siu to the vet & thank God her blood matched.  Cleo’s situation is still very critical as she is still bleeding profusely internally. She may need a few blood transfusions until the bleeding stop. We don’t really know for sure what caused this condition. She is tested low positive for tick fever but if it is really tick fever according to the dr. it should high positive. So I am keeping my fingers crossed and pray that she’ll pull through.

Thank you for responding so quickly. I really appreciate it. Will keep you updated.

Regards,

Cassandra

And again:

Hi Dr. Chan,

Please do blog about Cleo. It’s good to let people know that kindness does exist in this world even from strangers. Most of the people who offered to help are strangers.

As for Cleo, the vet just called me. She is still vomiting blood (which is not a good sign). So they are going to try giving her chemotherapy drug to boost up the platelet count. I am still hoping for the best and not giving up on her.

Once again, thank you very much. It means a lot to me that you are keeping Cleo in your prayers.

Regards,

Cassandra

This is Cleo, the poodle. She is currently fighting for her life at the hospital. Please pray for Cleo to be well again and to be free from mental and physical suffering.

Get well soon, Cleo. We’re all rooting for you!
