Reena Kong contacted me yesterday. She asked if I knew of any vet who could do surgery of the jaw. I immediately recommended our vet in Subang Jaya who had successfully repaired a broken jaw on Clariss (accident victim) last year.
Reena’s cat, Kenya, was involved in an accident (though, not sure how the injury happened as there were no eye witnesses), and the vet said the injury on her face is so extensive, he suggested euthanasia. Reena said no, she would go all the way for Kenya even if it meant she might have to rely on a feeding tube for the rest of her life.
Reena finally decided she would let her vet treat Kenya.
I was communicating with Reena in the wee hours of the morning (midnight).
Reena has given permission for me to share her story:
From Reena:
I hv faith she will survive even though she lost her sight. The critical part will be the jaws. According to the vet the jaws have multiple fracture. Food thru feeding tube and hope it is just temporary.
My family started to hv
cats when we saved a few wks old kitten from the drain. He did not survive after a month. We were sad and start looking for kitten at Petfinder. We found “little pinky” renamed James. He was saved by Lynette a very kind hearted lady just like you. James was lonely and I got Ken from a friend. Before I managed to spay – neuter them, Ken was found pregnant. At her young age i though it should only be 2 kittens but she gave birth to 5. That’s how we ended up with 7 cats. All spayed & neutered.Reena
Reena, I can understand why we cry so much for our animals and not so for the humans. I do the same too. It is because we can explain things to humans about their condition and they would be able to understand and communicate to us about how they feel. With animals, we cannot do this. We can only hope that they understand.
I used to cry each time I had to leave Mac and Bobby with my mother when we went for short holidays. It’s not that they are not safe, it’s because I could never be sure if they understood why I had to leave them for a few days. I would suffer so much thinking of how they would wait for us to come back and not understand why we had left them for a while. No more travelling for me, please!

Somebody asked me who gave me the rights to decide to amputate countess's leg. And why we just didnt euthanize her… I wish I can share this story with them and show that there is no difference in trying to save an animal and a human. why do we fight to live.. no matter what. cancer, limb amputation etc.. and why do we decide to put down the animals instead.
Reena, I will pray for Kenya. She is a strong girl and will survive this. Take Care
