Spay-neuter is normally not an emergency case. My request to rescuers who ask for our spay-neuter help is to please send me a photograph of the animal, either by email or mms.
This is because our accounts are audited and I need the photographs to account for each case done. Sometimes, by the time I finish work and reach the clinic, the animal has already been discharged. We have two clinics in Subang Jaya and I have to attend to both.
So, here’s how we work:
1. Rescuer writes/calls to ask if we can sponsor the spay-neuter of their animal.
If yes…
2. Rescuer sends photo of animal (by email or mms).
3. I make appointment and inform the vet.
4. Rescuer brings animal to vet.
5. Vet does procedure.
6. Rescuer collects animal.
7. I pay vet.
If the rescuer skips No.2, there is no appointment made. Then, if the rescuer simply brings the animal to the vet, the vet has to call me. I’m in class, teaching, and my phone is silent. There is confusion at the vet’s – is this AnimalCare’s case or not, because the rescuer claims it is, but no appointment has been made and the vet has not been informed.
To avoid all this unnecessary trouble, please just send me a photograph of the animal and I will make the appointment.
Alternatively, you may use your own vet. Then, send me the photograph and original receipt and I will reimburse you based on our rates. I think this is a much better alternative. You deal directly with your own vet and I will just reimburse/subsidise you.
If it’s a medical case, I can understand that it may be an emergency and the rescuer cannot send me any photograph, but spay-neuter is not an emergency. It is pre-planned. Handphones can take photographs nowadays. Even if it is blur, it’s fine. An mms is only 25sen. We are already sponsoring the spay-neuter in full. Surely 25sen is not too much to ask? If you do not have a camera-phone, please get a friend to help you. Please do not make me drive all the way to the clinic just to take a photograph for you. I have to work for a living too.
The above does not apply to you if you have been sending me photos. To all rescuers who do send me photos, thank you so, so much for making my work so much easier.
To those who don’t, I only have this to say – You are asking for help, and we have rules. Kindly abide by them. Please do not barge your way through without any consideration for those who are doing their best to help you.
Thank you.

Hi Shariza, yes, we help as many as we can. Please send me the photograph of the animal by email (chankahyein@gmail.com) and post the original receipt to me (address provided when you write to me), and I will reimburse you based on our rates and availability of funds.
I just need your word that it is a stray animal.
