Here are some sunshiny updates of our dear girl, Sunshine, from Lydia:
Sunshine has fully regained her bowel and bladder function and moves about independently. She walks, runs and plays with all my dogs. She even tries to jump up on me when she gets all excited when we’re playing. We are still working on some minor residual neurological deficits and I have hopes that this will still continue to improve.Today I modified her indoor “bedroom/cage” again as she goes through yet another stage of gaining independent mobility and no longer at risk from pressure sores. I can now remove the mattress that she had in her cage and she now sleeps on a soft carpet instead. When she is in her “recovery cage”, it serves the purpose of ensuring she has enough rest for recovery as she is still within the original plan for 12 weeks of stabilization. Soon she will be able to be without her enclosed “bedroom”.Sunshine still sleeps indoors but when I’m home, she spends several hours a day outdoors, exploring or playing or just lounging around on our porch. With the holiday this weekend, I had more time to spend on her strength training and I got her on the treadmill and was pleasantly surprised that she took to it quite easily. I have a treadmill for animal mobility rehabilitation. That’s all the news for now.Wishing you a Blessed New Year ahead!
Sunshine is ready for adoption. If you have been following all our posts, you’d know she is almost as good as new now.
