I checked with Janz and no one has come forth to claim the dog yet. Janz spent two-and-a-half hours on foot, during her lunch break yesterday, asking people if they know who the owner is. She also distributed flyers and pasted them on strategic places.
Meanwhile the dog is settling down and is eating now. The Indian family has two more dogs in their home. They love dogs.
We do not know what happened to this dog, but many years ago, a distant neighbour of mine actually abandoned her pedigree (I think it was a shih tzu). I found the dog wandering near my house, looking extremely lost. He was drenched too. So I caught him and brought him back to my distant neighbour because I have often seen the dog in her house compound. She wasn’t pleased to see me or the dog, and told me that she actually doesn’t want him anymore, and that is why she left him on the roadside.
That’s life…And I shall say no more.
Sometimes people say pets are luckier than humans. True, at times. But not always. Some humans want their pets only when they are nice and cute, but when trouble sets in or the initial excitement is gone, when the owner finds them too much of a burden, abandonment happens. And the pet cannot fend for itself because it has lost its natural instincts for survival. And what about its emotional wellbeing? They have feelings too.
So I come back to my question in yesterday’s posting….WHO are the true creatures of God’s creation?
