This poor Shih Tzu is a 7- year old female. She has been a home pet all her life, and now her owner wants her euthanised.
Same old story, folks.
She has a skin ailment suspected to be “allergic dermatitis with secondary bacteria and yeast infection” which may be chronic. Her ears are also infected, but all these can be treated. However, she may need long-term medication.
Her fur is all shaven (by the owner), and that is why she does not look very presentable right now.
The poor thing is very afraid and sad. Who wouldn’t be, especially if you’ve been a pet and now you have been disowned to be killed?
We shall not waste our time talking about the owner.
Let’s work together and give his poor girl a home, and a chance to live.

Dear Dr. Chan, maybe you know more about the owner than you are telling here, but I can't help but wonder if the owner simply cannot afford the vet treatment the dog needs. We all know how difficult it can be to diagnose and treat skin disorders. Is it possible that the owner has simply run out of funds to pay for continuing trips to the vet? Don't mind me — I'm just trying to give him or her the benefit of the doubt. 🙂
Hi Maneki, No, that is all I know about this Shih Tzu and her owner. We can give the owner all the benefit of the doubt, but the bottom line is, s/he wants the dog euthanised (is killing the only solution?). We are trying to save this dog by finding her an adopter. Thanks for your thoughts.
Hi Kah Yein,
I too have a male shih tzu having the same fate as this poor little creature, but lucky thing is I saw him and immediately I wanted him to be our lifetime companion. Now he is under medication and only taking holistic food for 2 yrs+ already, but at least he is happy with us. I always wanted to find partner for him(he is neutered) as all of us are either working and schooling, only reach home at 5pm but I stay in Penang that's the problem…anyway, I hope there will be someone who can provide cares and loves to her for the rest of her life…May God bless her.
Dear Kah Yein,
Skin allergy is not the excuse for putting tis poor lil girl down…. My maxter also having skin allergy since young but it never cross my mind for putting him now and i love him to bits… I've change numerous of dog food brands, even HCF and change 4-5 vets in Penang as well…. The owner sucks…
Hope u can find a gud home for tis poor lil girl soon….
Pray hard…
Hi Anonymous, would you be interested in adopting this Shih Tzu girl as a companion for your Shih Tzu boy? We will nurse her back to reasonable health first, and we'll let you know what is needed (medication, etc). Please let me know.
