This is one of the many dogs Aunty Kiew is feeding in the Old Klang Road area. One of her helpers, Janice, brought the dog to us today, for spaying at our panel vet, at our sponsorship.
The dog is named E.T. and is tame and friendly.
Looking at her sad and frightened face, I could not help but feel bad that we are doing something against her will, but when you think of the number of unwanted births and possible deaths you are preventing by getting these stray animals spayed and neutered, you’d know it is the lesser of the two evils.
Life is not perfect, and some things, though unpleasant, just have to be done.
Concidentally, while I was driving back from the clinic, I saw a little orange kitten lying lifeless by the side of the road. Another accident victim. The poor little thing was no bigger than Suki. It must have wandered out on its own and got knocked down by a vehicle.
It is sights like these that spur you on to do CNRM, and you know that despite the feelings of guilt that hits you once in a while (ie. what right do you have to get these animals spayed and neutered against their will?), you know that it IS for a greater good.
And as I am writing this now, Suki is sleeping soundly next to Vixey. A picture of peace.
There is so much inequality in life. Some are born lucky, some not so.
