Good morning, everyone. It is said that there are only two things we need in life – to love and to be loved. And which better relationship facilitates this than one of human and pet.
Just about three weeks ago, Mojo Jojo was living as a stray on the street. Ervina and her friends (bless their kind hearts) took him in and looked after him.
Then, we posted him up for adoption and within days, Najwa responded.
The rest is history…
Formerly a stray, now…? Loved to bits!!
Here’s Najwa with Mojo. Najwa adores him to bits!! And Mojo’s certainly basking in all the love he’s getting, isn’t he?
Thank you, Najwa, for giving Mojo a loving home and a good life.
You will be blessed!!

I took Mojo to the vet today just to get he's check up and deworm him. Doctor told me to do a bloodtest just in case because he's been a stray. We waited 15 minutes. He escaped from my cat carrier and started wandering around the clinic. A few minutes after playing with him, the doctor called us in and my heart sank when i saw a red line on one of the tests.
He tested positive for FIV which is Aids but for felines. It nearly drove me to tears as the doctor told me the results and said i had two choices. Either put him down or just let nature take its course. The doctor himself said that i didn't actually have to put him down but he was thinking more about my others cats.
I drove home thinking the worst but decided to google FIV and it turns out that it isn't as serious as HIV as most cats with +FIV could still lead normal happy lives for 4-5 years at least. And I'm extremely thankful for that.
Unfortunately now Mojo can't mix with my other cats as the doctor said to keep him isolated to reduce the chances of him infecting other cats.
Thankfully humans cannot contract FIV so he'll continue to sleep with me. 🙂 4-5 years more than enough for me and heres hoping Mojo would be the exception instead of the rule and prove the 9 lives theory.
Just wanted to share with everyone to get your cats tested if they have fever or seem depressed. And its not the end of their world if they are tested positive. Euthanasia is never an option.
Najwa, don't be so sad. My cat, Bunny, is also FIV-positive. He was tested positive when I offered him as a blood donor for an accident victim.
You are absolutely right – euthanasia is NOT an option. You do not kill a person who has contracted AIDS. The same rules apply to animals. Isolating Mojo is a good option. If he is not neutered yet, please get him neutered too because FIV spreads through sex and scratching. Please write to me at chankahyein@gmail.com if you wish to discuss this further. Bunny is now three-and-a-half years old. He is the tamest and sweetest cat in my colony. He is also VERY big size!
