The peaceful passing of Yorky

Dear everyone.  If you had been following our blog in July, you would remember Yorky.  Yorky was a purebred Yorkshire terrier who was sent by his breeder to the vet to be euthanised because “there was something wrong with him” (read: he was not perfect, so he could not be sold). 

When I first met Yorky, he was shivering and very nervous.  He could not even walk properly.  Every few steps, he would fall down.  And you had to carry him for a long time before he stopped shivering. 

More than 10 people responded to our appeal for an adopter for Yorky, and after some deliberation, we let Daniel Azlan take Yorky home.  Yorky was doing very well in Daniel’s home with his other pets.  In a matter of days, Yorky was already running around with Gigi and BonBon.

This evening, Daniel called to tell me that Yorky has mysteriously passed away a few days ago.  The cause of death is unknown and it was totally unexpected because Yorky was still happily running around the house just before he passed away. 

In fact, Daniel had even taken a video clip of Yorky running all over the place.  Then, he took Yorky to his bed while he prepared Yorky’s dinner.  When Daniel went back to Yorky, Yorky had already passed away.  He looked very peaceful, as though he was just sleeping.

It looked as though Yorky went peacefully in his sleep.  His time was up.   

Daniel buried Yorky at the playground where he and his friends play every morning. 

We would never know what happened.  Perhaps Yorky’s lifespan was just this short.  Perhaps as the breeder had suspected, Yorky did have some congenital problems.  But as I told Daniel, Yorky’s life may have been short, but it was filled with so much love.  Daniel is a wonderful pet-owner, and he truly cares very much for all his pets. 

We offer our heartfelt condolences to Daniel, Gigi and BonBon.  Daniel says Gigi is looking all over for Yorky.  Poor little thing.  

May Yorky rest in peace, and be in a better realm now where he is perfect in every way, and free from earthly suffering.
