The chairperson speaks

Today, I received a text message from the chairperson of the shelter whose staff had called me a “killer” for being unable to find a home for the Chow Chow, and for not caring about the Ketam dogs, plus a host of other matters (see yesterday’s postings, if interested).

The chairperson has most graciously explained that the entire issue must have been a misunderstanding, apologised for her staff’s remarks and reiterates that she is grateful we did our best to rehome the Ketam dogs.

I am very glad that she understands and appreciates that we did the rehoming with good intentions and no one could really predict what the outcome would be like.

We can only cross the bridge when we come to it, and deal with problems as they arise, with maturity and without finger-pointing.

We are very grateful to the chairperson for clarifying this matter and we hope the matter is now closed for good.

However, when I got home this evening after a very long day of AnimalCare work, several long emails awaited me in my mailbox.  They were all from the staff who had hurled accusations at me yesterday.  It seems to me that the matter is still NOT closed, as far as she is concerned.

These were extremely long and confusing emails, which she had meant for me to publish, but was not sent as a comment to the blog.  I would have published her email if it were constructive but after reading it, it is still mud-slinging and laced with more irrational criticisms, and certain parts were irrelevant and childish (such as challenging me to rehome her shelter dogs!).  So, I do not see any benefit in publishing it at all.

“To each her own”, shall we?

It is her right not to be happy with what I do.  I have no quarrels with that.  You can’t please everyone.  And no one is ever free from blame.  No matter how good your intentions are, there are bound to be people who will not like what you do.

That’s life.

Here’s our take on the two matters raised:

1.  The staff reiterates that she does not need our help with the Chow Chow anymore, so we shall channel our funds to our other animals.  If you’d like to adopt or help the Chow Chow, please do direct your aid to the shelter.

2.  We take full responsibility for the 13 Ketam dogs that we have rehomed in Bentong.  We will supply food on a monthly basis, bring whichever sick dog back to the vet, if necessary, and we will update all of you on this on a monthly basis, as we already are doing now.

We wish the Chow Chow all the best in his new home.  May he regain good health as soon as possible.

We wish again, to thank the chairperson of the shelter, for her graciousness in clarifying her stand, and we will close this matter now, for good.

Last but not least, let me personally thank everyone who had written to me, voicing your support for what we do.  I am extremely touched by your kind gesture and your genuine moral support for us.

Goodnight, and sweet dreams.

There will be more animals to help tomorrow.  Stay tuned….
