Shaggy is fostered (hopefully, adopted)!

Remember Shaggy?  Here’s Shaggy when first rescued from the Klang dog pound:

Shaggy is definitely someone’s pet because she has already been spayed.  And she is some sort of purebred, or at least, mixed.  Lisa brought Shaggy back from LLLP because she figured the farm helpers might not know how to take care of her long hair.

Ever since coming back, Lisa had been boarding Shaggy at the vet’s for treatment and visiting her every day to bring food.

Lisa worked very hard at trying to locate Shaggy’s owners, but there was no response.

Today, by some chance, a kind soul by the name of Jason offered to foster Shaggy with the view to adopt.

If Jason adopts Shaggy, she’ll be the 7th dog adopted from the group we’ve rescued (Tara, Jimmy and four more adopted by Bentong folks).

Here’s Lisa’s account:

Went to the clinic to see Roger and Shaggy this morning and took them lamb stew – chunks of lamb, pumpkin, garlic, cabbage, sweet potato and rice boiled together – which they both loved.

Some happy news – I got a fosterer for Shaggy. It was totally unexpected. I called a friend to ask if his mother might be able to take Shaggy and he said he could. It is fostering with a view to adoption. I have attached two photos of Shaggy in her new home. Jason came over to see Shaggy at the clinic and was quite taken with her. Poor girl thought she was going home with me and looked quite excited when I produced a lead and collar for her. I settled her in at Jason’s and left the two of them to bond. Jason prefers to remain anonymous which is why there are no pics of him. He has experience with dogs having grown up in a dog-filled household though Shaggy will be an only dog in his home.

Shaggy’s weight when I weighed her this morning was 8.6kg. She is still so thin her ribs and hip bones show terribly. I hope she will not take too long to regain her ideal weight.

Another friend came to see Roger and has taken pics of him to show her family. It’s only his leg wound left to heal. He’s about 6 years old and really has the most placid and relaxed demeanor. I’m hoping that my friend will adopt him. She has two dogs already and is considering a 3rd dog.

I’ll see Roger tomorrow when I take him some more lamb stew. He really has a lot of wag in that tail of his when he’s pleased and lamb stew pleases him.

Here’s the photos!

Shaggy’s new look (neat and trim!)

Shaggy in her (hopefully) new forever home!
Thank you, Jason and Lisa, for taking care of Shaggy.
P.S.  Just reflect for a moment, folks, if not for our rescue, and Lisa and Jason’s kindness now, Shaggy would have been euthanised on 15th Dec, at the Klang Dog Pound – a perfectly healthy (just severely malnourished) dog.  How many more “Shaggy”s await the same fate when captured by the local councils?  Can we work together towards a more compassionate society, please?  Please see my next posting…and please think about the possibility.

KY, Bentong and Raub have a lot of fruit orchards which can offer a home (and a job) to the dogs. Let us pray that God will move his Mighty Hands to open the hearts and minds of these orchard owners.
