Yesterday, Ainey had an adventure of her lifetime, and one injured dog, now named PJay, was rescued from the brink of suffering and possible death.
Here’s Ainey’s story:
This morning while driving to work, on the federal highway going towards PJ, somewhere after Midvalley, it was jammed… I spotted a dog lying on the road divider and thought to myself ‘Sigh, another dead dog, another accident victim’ (I see many dead dogs on federal highway in a year, since it’s my route to work everyday for the past many years)… But as I inched closer in the jam until the dog is just right beside me, I saw the dog’s eyes blinking! Then it’s ‘Oh no! What should I do? Who can I call to help? Should I stop the car? Will the dog bite?’…
After a few long seconds, I decided to stop my car on the right lane, put on the hazard light, got down from the car, crossed the metal railings on the divider and walked to the dog… I approached slowly, n saw cuts on his legs… I tried to carry him, but he yelped and snapped… he must be in so much pain…
At this point, a gentleman, Mr Richard, stopped his car beside me, rolled down his window and asked if I needed help… ‘Yes! I need help! Thank you!’… Mr Richard told me he’s actually rushing to go for a meeting, but he got down from his car to help me anyway …
We struggled for a while, because the dog refused to be moved or carried… he would snap… Then the dog stood up and tried to walk away… I was so worried he’ll limp his way onto coming traffic… The dog then pee-ed on the road, and I asked Mr Richard to hold him tight while I ran to my car to get a leash (I have learnt to have these things ready in the car)… I made a make shift muzzle by tying the leash around the dog’s muzzle to avoid being bitten and we struggled somemore to get the dog into my car but failed… Mr Richard told me he really needs to get to his meeting, he’s already late, and assured me he’ll call for assistance to come help me… I said ok but decided to try one last time to carry the dog, and I finally did it, and got dog into car! I gave thumbs up to Mr Richard who’s in his car, about to drive off, to signify that all’s good…
Then I drove straight to the vet in Puchong… the dog was calm and quiet throughout the journey… I assured him he’ll be ok…
At the vet’s, the dog was immediately checked by Dr Liu, and I was told the dog is not in a serious condition as he’s still alert and not pale… the dog’s right hind leg was very swollen, and has several cuts on his other legs… Dr Liu took a blood sample to check for diseases (since the dog is suspected to be a stray) and told me they would X-ray him later…
I thanked Dr Liu, told the dog I’ll see him later, and made my way to work… I was late! But never mind…
During lunch time, Dr Liu called to say the dog is ok and they did the x-ray… there is nothing broken in the abdomen, which is good news, but the femur bone is broken and needed surgery, which Dr Liu will discuss with me when I go visit the dog after work… Dr Liu also said the lacerations on the dog’s legs have been stitched up…
I named the dog PJay (or PJ in short)… I would like to thank Mr Richard for stopping and helping me, despite him being late for a meeting, when other car drivers just looked and drove away (and they probably cursed me for stopping my car on the right lane)… But I did not cause the jam on federal highway this morning… It was already jam when I was on it!

Such a brave lady – doesn't she makes all men out there look "small" (except for Mr Richard, of course).
This incident makes me think of a dog i saw along MRR2 (elevated highway near Giant, Batu Caves)last week-wonder what happened to him now?
Bravo Ainey! Thank you!! A life saved.
god bless you friend, u save another life
