Tam Tam was brought in to our panel vet for amputation of her right foreleg (suspected to be severely injured in an accident when her feeder, Julie, was away for CNY). Our vet, Dr Vijay, found the left hind leg to be dislocated as well. Because of this, she has only 2 1/2 functional legs, so to speak.
Today was Tam Tam’s check-up after the amputation. Julie had earlier informed me that Tam Tam has been doing quite well.
Tam Tam is learning to hop on 2 1/2 legs now.
She managed to settle down quite comfortably on top of the carrier (there is another cat in the carrier).
She can sit.
A close-up of the spunky little girl.
Judging from her disposition, I think Tam Tam is going to do very well. She is strong and confident. And I think this is because she knows she has a home and someone who will look after her. And, with tender loving care, she will make it.
Dr Vijay bandaged her again. Tam Tam also has contracted flu from the neighbourhood (there seems to be a cat flu outbreak in Julie’s area). She is on antibiotics and Vetri-DMG (an immune booster).
Tam Tam learning to walk again.
We put Tam Tam in the front seat of Julie’s car while waiting to settle the bill, and when Julie got back, Tam Tam had gone into the back seat!
She’ll be ok! Knowing one is loved and cared for makes a world of difference to an animal’s wellbeing.
Julie has decided that she will not put Tam Tam up for adoption. Tam Tam needs to learn to manage with her new condition and Julie will help her.
We need more Julies in this world.
Get well soon, Tam Tam.
