Yes, we got duped alright – Daniel and I!
Daniel text me to this morning to tell me that his friend discovered that Princess, whom he adopted from us, is not a “princess”, but a “prince”!
Princess is male!!
Gosh…aren’t we ignorant? I had Princess (I named her Wolfie) and Simba for two days and I was so sure Princess was female. Then, Daniel adopted both of them, and he also thought Princess was female (hence, the name “Princess”).
Well…she (I mean, he) is not. He is male.
And what about Simba? Did we get his gender right? Apparently, we did. Simba is still (!!) male.
We sure got duped…by our own ignorance!
The prince whom we thought was a princess!
I’ll bet he has the last laugh now.
But he’s really pretty, isn’t he?
I mean, handsome. Sorry!

The only sure tell is the tri-coloured cat – always female. LOL!
Yes, indeed! Calicos are almost always female, but wait…I hear there are some males but they are sterile (that's what a vet told me). And I hear gingers are usually always male…or are they?
Many are male, but I have found several females, not many though.

When kittens are still tiny, it is often quite difficult to agak the gender (the distance from the anus opening to the male genital opening is greater compared to the case of the female).
For me, I have had the surprise of several Princes turning out to be Princesses! 🙂
KY and Daniel, many Chinese mother-in-laws would have been beaming ear-to-ear … 🙂
You know, Daniel, if you want Princess (… oops, Prince, I mean :-)) to continue to look pretty and dainty, remember to neuter him at 6 months before his neck thickens and the face broadens with the formation of jowls, and you will have an eternal sweet little boyish looking face on Prince.
That is what my vet cum breeder told me when he congratulated me on neutering my handsome boy at 6-7 months. Don't neuter too early (before 6 months for males, though, there are some cons on early neutering).
