A few months ago, a feeder contacted me to ask for help in spaying and neutering the many stray dogs that he feeds in his neighbourhood.
I said we would definitely help him with the spaying-neutering of the stray dogs, but he would have to catch the dogs and send them to our panel clinics.
Two days ago, he called me again. He said two of the female dogs have just given birth and some of the puppies have been run over by heavy vehicles. He really sees the need in getting the dogs spayed now. But the problem is, he cannot catch them.
I have discussed this with one of his friends and the friend says this feeder leaves food for the stray dogs in many neighbourhoods, but he doesn’t make friends with the dogs. That is why he has not been able to catch any of them.
Also, he has been feeding the stray dogs in many colonies for several decades now, but no one has ever advised him about the need to get the dogs spayed-neutered.
I’ve contacted another rescuer to see if he can offer some help to this feeder in helping to catch some of the dogs.
And I’m sharing his story here and I hope that if you have the expertise or any suggestions on how this feeder can catch the dogs, please send a comment or write to me.
Thank you.

How about putting a mild tranquilizer in the food. I saw online that Benadryl can be given to dogs and will act as a mild sedative.
No, the animal will get drowsy and slip into unconsciousness in a dangerous spot and get killed while asleep. That is why that suggestion was shot down during the Pulau Ketam case. The dog may wander off and get unconcious at a place that gets underwater when the tide comes in and drown. Very dangerous.
