Today, this was posted as a comment in one of my February postings on the Selayang Dog Pound rescue. I thought I should reproduce it here for everyone to read:
Hi, I am from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Here the treatment of dogs has escalated to levels so barbaric that we can’t even start controlling the massacre of stray animals. The KK municipality believe that the only way to keep the population of strays is by brute force and severe injury. They often resort to constricting he poor animals in bags and bludgeoning them or leaving them to bleed to death. Once that is done, they would send the dogs to the crocodile farm or to restaurants that serve their meat. Unfortunately, the local newspapers and the high commitee of SPCA KK cannot voice out this horrific treatment of animals for they could be cast aside and left forlorn, thus making our group unable to help salvage the situation. To add to the misery, the village people here who cant afford to fence their homes have to bear with the agony of losing their pets on a frequent basis to such heartless people. The workers of the municipality always get away with their sinful acts, and knowing the authorities, once they read this, would demand evidence of their acts, knowing clearly well that the witnesses are in their hands. If there was only a way to put an end to this endless slaughtering of innocent animals we would appreciate it. Thank you.
It is always a very hard battle that we have to fight in doing our best to help the poor stray animals who are often at the mercy of humans who do not have sympathy or empathy for them. If there is no way to get through to the municipal, the long-term solution is to start a spay-neuter campaign so that the population of the strays is kept under control.
The short-term solution is to keep the pets indoors, but knowing how village life is like, this is quite difficult to do.
Take the first step towards a long-term solution. Work with your local SPCA and start an ongoing spay-neuter campaign. It may take decades before you see results. At the very least, by spaying-neutering, we prevent unwanted births (and unnecessary deaths).

Hey wait a minute, why can't the SPCA branch in KK voice it out? If they're afraid to be cast aside they should really just stop all their operations there. What a freakin joke those guys are.
"Our Mission"? What mission? You should be afraid of failure to complete your mission. Not say you are afraid to be cast aside. Be more vocal in the media, ask for donations. My grandfather used to work for the society for the blind, and he could rake in hundreds of thousands. If the municipal wants evidence then give them what they want. Shut them up. Otherwise, please do us all a favour & close down.
