Updates on Maggie the Cat

Maggie the Cat has been discharged from the clinic, but is still not able to eat on her own yet.  She seems to be still in pain because she cries when she is touched.  Perhaps she needs more time to respond to the medicine.  We all knew her surgery was 50:50, and it was very critical.

The vet has done everything possible to save Maggie’s life.  We hope she will get well soon under the loving care of Mas, her rescuer and feeder.

First and foremost, on behalf of pretty Big Eyes Maggie the Cat, I would like to thank Dr. Chan Kah Yein, AnimalCare and all the kind hearted and compassionate donors to her fund as well as the kind and diligent vet/s who have worked hard and long to save her life. I am very touched and grateful, and greatly encouraged to continue my efforts to care for the unfortunate and abandoned strays.

Maggie is still refusing to eat the I/D on her own and has to be force-fed via syringe. The mucous in her poo is now gone indicating that her colitis is clearing. However, her poo is still unformed and she often gets the urge to go to the poo box. The lack of appetite is probably compounded by the medication Metronidazole as one of its side-effects and I am looking forward to Sunday when that medication finishes.

As of last night, her eyes appear rounder, indicating that she is getting better, and a little more responsive and inquisitive of her confined surroundings.

She ate a very, very tiny bit of steamed chicken on her own last night even though the vet advised me to stick to I/D alone. However, I was desperate that she should eat and the I/D fed is not enough. She refuses to eat more than half a spoonful. Not all cats like the I/D anyway. I will get some more fresh steamed chicken for her today to coax her to eat.

But she is a gem and very easy to care for because she lets you feed her and swallows her tablets well.

Thank you, everybody, for your kindness and prayers.
